Irvin Briley Jr was born on November 7, 1954 to the late Irvin (Hank) Briley, Sr. and Ophelia Briley. He is the eldest son of six. His siblings are Mary Lee, Michael, Lloyd, Charles, Letitia Marie, and the late Madeline. He attended Prairieville Elementary School and went on to graduate from East Ascension High School in Gonzales. After completion of his high school diploma, Irvin attended Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was called to the ministry in 1976 and received formal religious training and education at Christian Bible College and the Inter-Baptist Theological Center in Baton Rouge. Currently, Irvin Briley has been an ordained pastor for 31 years and humbly holds several degrees, which include a Bachelor of Religious Education, a Bachelor of Theology, and Doctorate of Theology, and last but not least, a BA as a born again child of God. In addition to serving as a Pastor, he is a 31-year employee of Fisher Service in Gonzales, Louisiana. His favorite saying is I am on the wall, and I can't come down. When asked if he has a role model, he proudly gives credit to Jesus Christ. Pastor Irvin Briley is also the father of 2 loving daughters, Gabrielle Johnson and Shannon Ross, and has two sons-in-law, A.J Johnson & Kevin Ross. Last, but not least, he is the proud grandfather of his three granddaughters, Jazmine, Alexis and Kierra.
Reverend Irvin Briley, Pastored two churches a few miles down the road from each other for many years. God gave Pastor Briley a vision to merge the two churches. Stepping out on faith because of the vision God had given him, Pastor Briley merged the two churches. In October 2004, the Vision that God had given Pastor Briley, became a reality! Mt. Pilgrim B.C. and Mt. Calvary B.C became First Pilgrim Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
